BRUSSELS - Three activists pro-freedom of Cuba: Anisley Pérez, Niurka Prestamos, Yamisderky Pelier announced that they were on a hunger strike in front of the United Nations headquarters in New York to draw attention to the serious situation that the Cuban people are experiencing.
The activists are demanding the attention of the international community and ask that the Cuban people's call for help be answered.
The activists hope that their voice will be heard and achieve a humanitarian intervention for Cuba.
At this time the dictatorship is unable to alleviate the situation of misery aggravated by COVID-19.
Petition of the strikers reproduced in full:
To the UN Human Rights Rapporteurs:
We ask you with great respect and love through this writing that you influence or make a decision regarding:
1- Cuba should be removed from the Human Rights Council since they have been violating the human rights, keeping silent and committing a genocide with the Cuban people for 62 years.
2- Hospital ships for the coasts of Cuba because our people are dying every second and on the island the hospitals are collapsing due to lack of medicine and resources (medicine that the leaders of that dictatorship do not lack)
3 -Humanitarian intervention since our people are being violently repressed, militarized and gagged with the now decree law 35, also when a president orders to shoot an unarmed people as Diaz-Canel did, it is already more than a genocide
Note: Our people die and cry blood I know that God will touch your heart. Think that while you decide, Cuba dies.
We have decided to stand up like those planted and shot by the Castros in front of the United Nations organization, going on a hunger strike until our voices are heard, which is the cry of our people.
This pain is already killing us, we will only drink water, I repeat I trust that God will touch you heart and I quote something that is written in stone right here: all nations have rights and that is what the people of Cuba are asking for.
Without further ado and wishing you blessings, the decision is in your hands that Cuba may stop crying blood.
-Anisley Pérez, Niurka Prestamos, Yamisderky Pelier
Note: BelgoCuba: Free Cubans of Belgium will be closely following this strike and assisting the three activists.

Through diplomatic action and political involvement the Free Cubans of Belgium aim to create a dialogue with the Belgian Government, the European Union, and international institutions to defend basic Human Rights and political rights in Cuba. We demand an immediate STOP to the Political and Development Cooperation Agreement with the Cuban dictatorship. The PDCA only helps to maintain the regime in power and does not contribute to improving the lives of ordinary cuban people.
Since 1959 the world has romanticized a totalitarian and terrorist regime. Our lecture series aims to educate the European public about the reality of the Cuban people. The distortion of our history has been intentionally one of the biggest treason made by the communist regime. In promoting a false image of Cuba the regime has been successful in accessing credits, financial support and the sympathy from democratic governments. Economic cooperation with the regime only benefits the communist elite in power while keeping the majority in extreme poverty and scarcity.
As victims of communism, we the Free Cubans of Belgium and of Europe must remind the European population of the dangers of communism, marxism and totalitarian ideologies. The Cuban people yearn for a change of system. We do not want to continue living under the oppression of the communist party. It is our duty to raise our voice and denounce the constant violations of our basic human rights happening on the island in front of the eyes of the international community. The complicity MUST STOP !
The richness of Cuban culture allows us to come together with to share our traditions, our arts, our music, and our literature. Culture is an important element in understanding our people and it can be a neutral ground to create dialogues between our community and others. Through our exhibitions program and events we go beyond simple politics to promote our democratic values. We want to contribute the universality of our culture.
With more than 15 years of experience in organizing relief efforts for the Cuban people, Mrs. Lia Randich is in charge of coordinating all humanitarian aid support to the island through a collaboration with the Archbishop of Havana and Santiago de Cuba, and in support of different religious congregations. Especially noteworthy is the shipment of medicines and sanitary material, scarce on the island.
Our distribution network does not encounter interference from the Communist Party of Cuba.
Through our different online and field campaigns we aim to raise awareness of the different violations of basic human rights constantly happening on the island. Our different campaigns range widely from the liberation of political prisoners, to police brutality, to protesting arbitrary laws that violates the freedom of speech of the Cuban people. We are constantly observing the situation on the island, as well as collaborating with different dissident groups inside and outside of Cuba.
Your support to our cause will make an impact on the work with do to defend the fundamental human rights of the Cuban people and our struggle to re-establish a democracy on the island. Help us make a change globally !
WE DECLARE: The free Cubans around the world petition, without a doubt, for a MILITARY INTERVENTION by the United States of America and NATO to put an end to the Castro/Diaz-Canel regime and liberate the Cuban people who live in terror, misery, hunger and coercion!
We ask the House of Representatives to
Make a public declaration of solidarity with the Cuban people in exile and with all groups of civil society leading the peaceful struggle for human rights on the island
We ask that the European Institutions cease cooperating with the Cuban government, which has repeatedly violated EU-Cuba cooperation agreements. The Cuban diaspora abroad calls for a halt to the European Union’s collaboration with the Cuban regime.
We ask the Parliament of Wallonie to make a public declaration of solidarity with the Cuban people in exile and with all groups of civil society leading the peaceful struggle for human rights on the island
We ask the EP to recognize the genocidal and terrorist character of the Cuban state and to once and for all stop the European cooperation with the tyrannical castrist regime. This petition has been added to petition 1540/2020
All of the aid and money is largely administered by the Revolutionary Armed Forces and their affiliates. The people have no knowledge of this aid to which these millionaire investments are destined.
