Cuba : OEC Economic Profile

Overview

In 2020 Cuba was the number 151 economy in the world in terms of total exports and the number 149 in total imports. The communist regime has been incapable of assuring a developement of the Cuban economy. The American Embargo does not prevent Cuba from trading or doing business with any country in the world at preferential rates.

In 2020, Cuba exported a total of $1.15B, making it the number 151 exporter in the world. During the last five reported years the exports of Cuba have changed by -$238M from $1.39B in 2015 to $1.15B in 2020.


The most recent exports are led by : 

  • Cigars, cheroots, cigarillos and cigarettes; of tobacco or of tobacco substitutes ($267M), Cane or beet sugar and chemically pure sucrose, in solid form ($201M), 
  • Nickel mattes; nickel oxide sinters and other intermediate products of nickel metallurgy ($143M), volume; spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages ($82.2M), 
  •  Zinc ores and concentrates ($68.9M). 


The most common destination for the exports of Cuba are China ($441M), Spain ($108M), India ($61.5M), Singapore ($50.2M), and Germany ($49.8M).
